Education
Michaela is currently a K-8 General Music and Middle School Band Director at Berkshire Country Day School in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. She previously served as the music director at Mekeel Christian Academy of Scotia, New York where she conducted elementary, junior, and senior bands, jazz band, and senior high chorus. In addition to conducting, she has taught music theory and songwriting electives and served as a vocal instructor at Schenectady County Community College. Michaela received her Bachelor's in Music Composition from Ithaca College and also studied a semester at the Academia Internazionale della Musica of Milan, Italy with a concentration in composition under composer Roberto Adreoni and the Civici Corsi di Jazz of Milan with a concentration in jazz arranging. After completing her degree, she relocated to Fribourg, Switzerland where she taught music, specializing in voice, piano, and alto saxophone. During that time, she completed her Master's in Music Education at Boston University. After returning to New York, Michaela continued teaching and conducting. Michaela is currently a DMA student at Boston University with an interest in the phenomena of songwriting and creativity. Michaela continues to compose and write songs and participates in national and international competitions. She was the winner of the Jack Downey Composition Competition and a semi-finalist in the Maurice-Ravel International Composition Competition.
